Giving away stuff is always a great idea, and having a stuff swap with friends or neighbors can yield some useful new items for your home. And donating to a local charity helps you get rid of stuff while contributing to your community. But did you know there’s a way to give your stuff away online, and all you have to pay is shipping to receive something? A site called Givmo is an easily searchable stuff swap site where people can list items they’d like to donate, and all receivers have to do is pay for the shipping of the item to its destination. They even provide the sender with printable shipping labels! And every month, for every successful swap, they donate a dollar to a different charity. Good Karma all around!

So how does it work? You take a picture of the item and you can either email it or post it to the Givmo website for free. Other people search for an item, find yours, and agree to pay the shipping costs to get it sent to them. Once the receiver is the winner of your item, you get emailed a shipping label. You put the item in a box, put the shipping label on it, and drop it off at any UPS location (or if you see a driver in your neighborhood, just give it to him). You de-clutter your space, your item becomes useful again, and money goes to charities that need it.

There are lots of people looking for free stuff online, and lots of people trying to get rid of their stuff, and Givmo is a great way to connect all of these people together to reuse and recycle items instead of filling up landfills. As the folks at Givmo like to say, “It’s a Karma extravaganza, if you will.” Good Karma for everyone!
