One of the upsides (for me at least) about living on the West Coast is that we have pretty good weather all year round. (In Vegas, it feels like we only have two seasons: fall and summer!) And one of the best ways to reduce stress around here is to do something outside every day throughout the year, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. You get a little bit of sunlight or precipitation, some air, and you can clear your mind a little.
Of course, with anything, if you’re going to be spending any amount of time outside (even during the winter), make sure you’re applying some sunscreen before you head out and do anything. Going out unprotected could lead to problems down the road for your skin, so make sure you’re protected!
Here are a few great stress relievers you can do while you’re outside:
- Till your garden
- Take a walk or take a bike ride to better know your neighborhood
- Do some birdwatching
- Watch a sunset (or a sunrise if you’re an early bird)
- Get some reading or writing time
There are loads of ideas for outdoor activities that only take 15 minutes outside all year around. Make a habit of taking at least 15 minutes to do something outside every day and it will become a habit in no time. Get outside to clear your mind, get a little healthier, and live more!
