With the film version of the popular book “Eat, Pray, Love” hitting theaters and starring American sweetheart Julia Roberts, we thought we’d devote the Friday “Quote of the Week” space to her and one of the many sweet (and also sometimes funny) quotes she’s given in interviews during her long film career. So, today, Julia Roberts on expressing love:
“If you love someone, you say it, right then, out loud. Otherwise, the moment just passes you by.”
That action may be a bit braver than many of us are, but we think that Julia’s point can be taken not only for love but for so many things in life. If you feel things that are happy, or you have an opportunity to do something that will make you feel happy, you should take those opportunities right when they’re in front of you. If you don’t, they may not be there in the future. And, in our quest to all find satisfaction, passing up opportunities to experience satisfaction is something that we can’t afford to do. Especially if we’re passing them up in order to instead “stick to a plan” of climbing a ladder so that we can find “satisfaction” through consumerism or ways in which we’ve been told that we should be happy that don’t actually work.
We love the message of “Eat, Pray, Love” and we’re hopeful that the movie will do the book justice. We could all stand to take a little advice from Julia Roberts and grab the moment when the moment is there, whether that’s to tell somebody that you love them, or to sit down in the grass and feel the sunshine on your face!
