Not all of us love to cook, but for those of us who do, it’s a great way to find the satisfaction of enough with the added bonus of a delicious meal or baked goods at the end of it! We have another suggestion for an activity that will help you find the satisfaction of enough and give you a great end product as well. Make a cookbook!
We’re not necessarily suggesting that you create a cookbook to publish, though if that’s your dream we think that you should go for it! What we’re really suggesting is that you create a cookbook for yourself to give to somebody special many years from now. The cookbook can include all of your favorite recipes, plus much, much more. Here are some suggestions from us, though you should get as creative as you can!
Gather Your Recipes: Gather your favorite recipes, as well as the ones that you know your friends and family love the most.
Get a Journal: Pick a hard-bound journal (or make your own from re-used paper) to write the recipes in. Get creative and decorate the cover with pictures of food, pictures of people eating the recipes you’re including or just fun colors and decorations.
Don’t Just Include the Recipe: With each recipe that you put in the book, also include notes or a small write up about where you learned the recipe and memories that you have about making it or about times when you and your friends and family ate it. If you have pictures of the dish or of you and your loved ones enjoying it, include those as well.
Take Your Time: Don’t try to rush through this project in a week! The process isn’t just about creating a cookbook. It’s also about enjoying memories and celebrating food, your connection to it and the special times you’ve had making and sharing it.
Cooking is a great way to find satisfaction in your daily life either by yourself or with others, and like most things we think that you’ll also find great satisfaction in documenting this activity for yourself or to share. Start your cookbook today. We assure you that you’ll discover new memories and things you love about the culinary arts along the way.
